Food Bank
Yonge Street Mission’s Food Bank provides basic groceries–3 meals a day for 3 days–for families and seniors in our catchment area, and for people on disability who participate in our other programs. Registration for the Food Bank is required. To register, one must present identification for all family members living in the household, proof of income, and proof of current address. Members and volunteers can also take part in operating the food bank to learn about nutrition, food and food security issues.
Our Food Bank Advocacy Program ensures that participants can get the help they need, both through YSM and other agencies. Issues may include housing, employment, addiction, education, social services and health promotion. All consultations are strictly confidential.
Food Bank appointments may be booked up to one week in advance, in person (preferably) in the Food Bank office located in the Community Centre lower level, or by telephone. Unfortunately, we can’t accept same-day appointments.
Contact our Food Bank Coordinator at 416-929-9614, ext. 3256.
