Many caring volunteers assist in the work of Yonge Street Mission. In the process of helping to change the lives of others, our volunteers often find that their lives are changed, too.
Yonge Street Mission welcomes volunteers in a wide variety of areas throughout the year. We have opportunities for individuals, groups and student placements. Our current volunteer opportunities are listed here online (Urgent Volunteer Needs and General Volunteer Opportunities). You’ll be certain to find an opportunity that appeals to you and if not check back often as we are constantly updating our opportunities.

We are grateful for our volunteers, who partner with us to work for peace, dignity and justice, and function as highly visible role models within our communities. Each year, we rely on more than 4,000 volunteers to assist with programs, meals, tutoring, mentoring, after-school clubs, health care, building maintenance, day camps and a wide variety of other seasonal and special events. Volunteers make an incredible difference in our ability to provide effective programs to the community. We are most grateful to each individual and group who gives their time and talents to make a difference in YSM’s communities.
One of the deep secrets of life is that all that is really worth doing is what we do for others. Lewis Carroll

“I did not know what to expect when I came, but I am so touched by the whole experience. Those who donated all of these gifts were so generous, and the staff are so thoughtful and organized. I had a lot of fun. Thank you. Can I come next year again?”
“I wanted to tell you how much my group appreciates all that you've done for us, and that we all had a fantastic time at the children's breakfast on Saturday. The opportunities that you gave us, and the people that we met at YSM made a great impression on us and helped us to realize the importance of volunteering in our community; with that in mind, we had such a great time that we'd love to come back next year and help out some more!”
"Volunteering is not just about getting your hours. It is about helping your community and giving back."
