Coldest Night of the Year Volunteers
Do you love meeting new people, enjoy being outdoors, love the event atmosphere, and want to be part of YSM’s yearly fundraiser, then you should volunteer at Coldest Night of the Year!
On Saturday February 23, 2019, join us to support the estimated 6000 homeless youth living in Toronto at our 9th annual Coldest Night of the Year Walk as a volunteer. It’s a family friendly opportunity to experience a night in their shoes as well as raising awareness and funds.
If you are 18 years of age and older, able to stand for 4 + hours, lift 20lbs and don’t mind being outdoors please consider volunteering. We are looking to fill the following positions:
Responsible for setting up and serving food to walkers and volunteers pre and post-WALK snack.
Pre/Post Event Set up and Tear down
Helping with pre-event support – set up and tear down of the event.
Check-in Volunteers registration of all participants.
Assist walkers along route at key intersections or critical corners, encouraging and cheering each walker.
Route – Rest Stops Hosts
Greet and welcome walkers at one of our rest stops throughout the night of the event.
Route – Sign Set Up Crew
Prepping, signing and setting up the WALK route.
Route – Support Vehicles
You are responsible to “sweep” an assigned WALK route, watching for tired or injured walkers, cold and weepy toddlers (and their parents), etc.
Welcome Team – Desk:
Your Welcome Team is responsible for providing walkers and volunteers with directions and assistance on WALK day.
Welcome Team – Greeters:
Greeting volunteers and walkers and provide helpful directions towards registration, bathrooms or volunteer check-in.
Welcome Team – Parking:
Responsible for directing vehicles to preferred parking locations, walkers and teams to registration (like a greeter), and keeping an eye on children and others at the end of the night when cars are backing up and exiting.
