Mentors are connected one-on-one with a mentee who is on a journey through the steps of being trained in YSM’s employment training and support program.
The role of a volunteer adult mentor is to provide some or all of the following:
Realistic goal setting
Support alongside mentee at professional and life-skills development workshops
Life skills development and application
Peer concerns, stress, and competing life demands
Promoting active community involvement
Budgeting and financial management
Who are the mentees?
Our adult participants have great hopes and dreams who require the encouragement and support of a mentor. Adult community members are between the ages of 25 years old to 50 years old and will have made a commitment to being a participant in our Community Services Development program for Adults.
Mentors commit to 6 hours per month for a whole year to this role of an exciting year of transformation. Hours are mostly flexible. There will be a community of other mentors and staff who can provide training, coaching, and support.
