YSM Community Services provides the following programs and services:
Meals and Support Programs: A nutritious meal is served Tuesday and Thursday nights in a supportive community environment. Following the meal, are programs designed to support the journey for change. Programs include Creative Writing, Creative Art, Recovery Group, Women’s Support Group, and Spiritual Reflection.
Educational Supports: Assistance with reading and writing and basic math skills through one on one tutoring.
Counselling: We have trained counsellors to support community members in the process of healing from negative experiences and psychological wounds. We deal with a range of issues including addictions, abuse, anxiety and eating disorders.
Case Management: Working as a team, we support you in achieving your goals. We specialize in helping prison and street-involved women, post-prison and street-involved men, youth that are aged out of youth services such as Evergreen, people in crisis.
Housing: Assistance with accessing shelters, transitional/support or permanent housing
Church at the Mission (CATM): Part of YSM and a community of welcome for anyone who wants to worship, find strength for the daily journey and be part of a spiritual family
Employment: Assistance in becoming employment ready-through workshops and other programs.
Food Bank: The food bank provides a 2-3 day supply of unprepared, non-perishable food (often supplemented with staples like bread, milk and vegetables). The food bank is accessed by appointment. There is an initial intake interview when one first comes to the food bank to assess your need. Internal and external referrals are made to other resources that you might need.
