Our YSM Community Services program offers programs and services to adults, between the ages of 25 and 64, living with poverty.
Meals and Support Programs: We serve nutritious meals every Tuesday and Thursday nights in a supportive community environment. Programs to support the journey for change follow each meal. These programs include Creative Writing, Creative Art, Recovery Group, Women’s Support Group, and Spiritual Reflection.
Educational Supports: We offer assistance with reading, writing and basic math skills through one-on-one tutoring.
Counselling: Our trained counsellors support community members in healing from negative experiences and psychological wounds. Our counsellors help with a range of issues including addictions, abuse, anxiety and eating disorders.
Case Management: We guide and support those in our community in reaching their goals. We specialize in helping post-prison and street-involved women and men, youth that have aged out of our youth services programs and people in crisis.
Housing: We help individuals and families access shelters and transitional, supportive or permanent housing.
Church at the Mission (CATM): Part of YSM and a community of welcome for anyone who wants to worship, CATM helps everyone find the strength for the daily journey and makes everyone a part of a spiritual family.
Employment: We offer workshops and other programs to help those in our community become employment-ready.
Food Bank: Our food bank provides 2 to 3 days worth of unprepared, non-perishable food, which are often also supplemented with staples such as bread, milk and vegetables. The food bank is only available by appointment following an interview to assess individual needs. Referrals to other YSM or partner services are also available through the food bank.
