About Double Take

Since it opened in September 1999, YSM’s Double Take thrift store has earned a reputation as one of Toronto’s premiere, gently used clothing, furniture and housewares outlets. Besides making a significant economic contribution, Double Take has become a positive presence in the neighbourhood by reclaiming a derelict building and installing an enterprise that’s attractive, welcoming and commercially viable. By providing quality, affordable clothing to low-income neighbours, Double Take helps provide well-being and dignity to people of all ages and situations, including young parents with infants and school-aged children, street-involved youth, disadvantaged adults and seniors.

Double Take provides:

• Training and employment to nearly 20 community residents
• Quality apparel, home decor and furniture at affordable prices
• Affordable interview and career clothing
• Gift certificates for families, adults, seniors and street-involved youth that allow them to shop with dignity
• Free clothing for the YSM Community Centre’s Food Bank
• A place for “new career” candidates to gain retail experience

*To cover rising vehicle operating costs, we charge a $10 fee for picking up from addresses in Toronto and $20 from across the GTA, including Mississauga, Woodbridge, Richmond Hill, Markham, Pickering and Ajax. We are one of the few charity stores that pick up donations upon request, at the donor’s convenience. We regret that we are not able to accept appliances, beds (mattresses, box springs), sofa beds or cribs.
