Give children a holiday from hardship

As more neighbours than ever turn to YSM for help to address their basic needs, we anticipate over 450 families – representing more than 950 children – will turn to YSM for help in giving their children a special and memorable Christmas. You can bring joy to a child experiencing poverty this holiday season.

How can you help?

1. DONATE NEW TOYS

Please consider donating new toys or organizing a toy drive. We also encourage donations of $25 gift cards for Walmart, Amazon, CF gift cards (for malls) for older children. You can view the Toy Market wishlist here, or below.

We are unable to do toy pick-ups this year; please see below for more information on how to mail or deliver your toy donations to our 306 Gerrard St E office by December 8.

2. GET INVOLVED

If you’d like to bring a group for a hands-on experience giving back to the community, we have Toy Market shifts available during set up (December 10-11), throughout the Toy Market (December 14-19), and during tear down (December 19). We are also seeking Toy Market sponsors. You can learn more here about these opportunities, and email communityengagement@ysm.ca with any questions.

3. DONATE FUNDS FOR TOYS

You can also donate money to be used to purchase new toys, books, games, and more for the age range where it’s most needed.

Any funds raised beyond our Toy Market needs will be used to benefit our year-round support for Toronto families in need.

How to donate new toys

Mail your donations

Purchase new and unopened toys directly through an online retailer and have them sent to YSM directly:

Please ensure donations arrive by December 8, 2026. Toy donations over $20 will be eligible for a tax receipt. Please submit this form with your donation, and YSM will generate a tax receipt within a few days.

Deliver your toys in person

Purchase new and unopened toys online or in person, and drop off your toy donations in person. To do this please coordinate with us by sending an email to toymarket@ysm.ca. Drop off location is:

Please note that we are closed on the weekends and evenings, and therefore unavailable to accept in-person donations after 5pm and on weekends. Last day to drop off your donations is December 8, 2026.
