SUPPORT COMMUNITY MEMBERS EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY!
Yonge Street Mission’s (YSM) Food Bank provides nutritious food and essential items to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, while creating a welcoming experience where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Volunteering here is a great opportunity for people who enjoy hands-on work, staying organized, and working as part of a team.
WHAT WILL I DO?
As a Food Bank Volunteer, you’ll play an important role in supporting our community. You may:
- Sort and organize food donations
- Prepare food hampers
- Stock shelves, including bending and lifting 5–20 lbs.
- Support the day-to-day operation of the Food Bank
- Welcome, guide, and support community members visiting our Food Bank
Shifts are 2–4 hours and take place at our Food Bank at Gerrard and Parliament.

- Step 2 — Find a shift: Log in and look for available weekly Food Bank shifts.
- Step 3 — Sign up: Choose a shift that works for you and sign up!
WANT TO BECOME A LONG-TERM VOLUNTEER?
- After completing 6+ shifts, speak with your Food Bank supervisor.
- They’ll connect you with our Volunteer Resources team to apply for a Long-Term Volunteer role.
