SUPPORT THE SPIRITUAL GROWTH OF CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY!
Yonge Street Mission’s (YSM) Church at the Mission (CATM) is looking for a Sunday School Teacher Volunteer to support the spiritual development of children and help grow the CATM ministry. This is a great opportunity for people who enjoy working with children and have a strong familiarity with the Gospel and Bible.
WHAT WILL I DO?
As a CATM Sunday School Teacher Volunteer, you may:
- Lead or support Sunday School lessons for a small group of 3–8 children of various ages
- Teach the Gospel in an engaging and age-appropriate way
- Supervise and encourage children during activities, singing, and presentations
- Get to know and support the individual needs of the children
- Support Sunday School programming every Sunday from 2:30–4:00 PM (1.5 hours)
- Volunteer at Church at the Mission (CATM), near Gerrard Street East & Parliament
- Attend required volunteer orientation and training
- Follow all YSM volunteer policies, guidelines, and health and safety protocols
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Commitment to and familiarity with the Gospel and Bible
- Experience teaching Sunday School or working with young children
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Compassion, patience, and an encouraging approach
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, social justice, and anti-oppression
- Ability to work with community members using a client-centred, strengths-based approach
- Ability to maintain healthy and professional boundaries
- Must be 18+ years old
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check (PRC/VSS)
