Give a student the tools for success
This year, we hope to collect 570 new, quality backpacks with age-appropriate school supplies for students from kindergarten to grade 12 by August 5, 2026. These will be distributed on YSM’s Backpack Day, so children and youth can start the new school year feeling confident and equipped with the supplies they need. How can you help?
1. HOST A BACKPACK DRIVE
If you, your organization or church have interest and ability to organize a backpack drive for struggling families, please email communityengagement@ysm.ca. You can also download this year’s flyer here to share.
2. GIVE A GIFT ENABLING YSM TO BUY BACKPACKS
Below, you can buy one or more backpacks full of school supplies for $50, or give a gift of any amount.
Thank you for supporting Toronto families! As parents face rising costs, Backpack Day offers relief and practical support, while also having a profound impact on the emotions and experiences of the children we serve.
Buy a new backpack filled with supplies
Thanks to our partnership with Humaniti, you can purchase a new backpack with age-appropriate supplies that will be delivered to Yonge Street Mission before Backpack Day. You will receive a tax receipt from YSM via email when you donate. Note: While we have done our best to ensure the accuracy of the supply lists below, supply lists can be subject to change.
