Church at the Mission - Church Space Setup / Tear-Down

HELP BEAUTIFY OUR CHURCH SPACE FOR SUNDAY SERVICE!

Yonge Street Mission’s (YSM) Church at the Mission (CATM) Pastoral Care team welcomes volunteers to help set up and prepare our church space for Sunday services. This is a great opportunity for people who want to give back in a fun, active, and hands-on way while helping create a welcoming atmosphere for our church community, especially those who may be unhoused or experiencing poverty in Toronto. Volunteers will support staff with room setup, equipment preparation, and cleanup before and after services. Your contributions will help create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone who walks through our doors!

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As a Church Space Setup / Cleanup Volunteer, you’ll help staff prepare the church space for worship and support the team before and after Sunday service. You may:

Arrange chairs and prepare the space for worship
Hang banners and assist with other room setup tasks
Assist with the PA system and basic audio equipment
Help staff with equipment and other preparation during band practice
Learn how to provide livestream support, as needed
Help with other pre-service tasks as requested by staff
Option to remain during the service and assist as needed
Help tear down and organize the space after the service
Work with staff and fellow volunteers to maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized environment

Shifts take place at our Church at the Mission location at Gerrard and Parliament.

Before Service Set-Up: Sundays, 11:30 AM–1:30 PM
After Service Tear-Down: 4:15–5:30 PM

After completing 6+ shifts, speak with your Church at the Mission (CATM) supervisor.
They’ll connect you with our Volunteer Resources team to apply for a Long-Term Volunteer role.
