SUPPORT VULNERABLE YOUTH, ONE MEAL AT A TIME!
Yonge Street Mission’s (YSM) Evergreen Kitchen provides nutritious meals to vulnerable youth while creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported. Volunteering here is a great opportunity for people who want to gain food service experience, are flexible and open-minded, and enjoy hands-on work, connecting with others, and creating a positive, inclusive space.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a Kitchen Assistant/Food Prep Volunteer, you’ll help prepare and serve meals while contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. You may:
- Prepare and serve meals
- Clean up after meals
- Prep for future meals
- Support other kitchen tasks as needed
- Support with tasks, such as carrying groceries, that involve bending and lifting 5–20 lbs.
Shifts are 3 -3.5 hours and take place at our Evergreen Kitchen at College and Spadina.

- Step 3 — Sign up: Choose a shift that works for you and sign up!
WANT TO BECOME A LONG-TERM VOLUNTEER?
- After completing 6+ shifts, speak with your Evergreen Kitchen supervisor.
- They’ll connect you with our Volunteer Resources team to apply for a Long-Term Volunteer role.
