TORONTO, ON – December 07, 2025 — Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is partnering with the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) for this year’s “Stuff the Bus” Toy Drive, rallying Torontonians to help fill a TTC bus with new, unwrapped toys for children and youth facing poverty this holiday season. The annual event will take place at Walmart Eglinton & Warden (1900 Eglinton Avenue East, Scarborough, M1L 4R5), where donations collected will support hundreds of low-income families connected to YSM’s community programs.
This long-standing TTC holiday initiative invites residents to contribute toys, gift cards, and stocking-stuffers that will be distributed through YSM’s Bridges (adults), Cornerstone (families), and Evergreen (youth) programs. As rising living costs continue to strain household budgets across the city, demand for holiday support has increased sharply. YSM expects to serve more families this season than in previous years.
“Many parents in our community are making impossible choices between rent, food, and basic necessities. A toy drive may seem small, but the compassion it represents means the world to families under pressure,” said Angie Peters, President & CEO, Yonge Street Mission. “Our partnership with the TTC reinforces what can happen when this city comes together — generosity grows, and children feel seen and valued during a time that can otherwise be very difficult.”
The TTC has supported charitable causes for decades, using its iconic vehicles as a platform for community giving. “Stuff the Bus” remains one of its most recognizable annual initiatives, offering an accessible way for residents to contribute. Volunteers, TTC staff, and YSM team members will be on site collecting donations and greeting supporters throughout the event.
Beyond the holiday moment, YSM emphasizes that toy donations are part of a larger commitment to building a Toronto where every person has the opportunity to thrive. Holiday supports reduce financial stress for low-income families, giving them room to focus on long-term goals such as stable housing, employment, and education — core outcomes supported through YSM’s year-round services.
Community members are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys suitable for children and youth of all ages. Monetary donations and gift cards are also welcome.
